What is the difference between PIM and PDM software?
PIM (Product Information Management) and Product data management (PDM) software manage different types of product data.
PDM tools are used by engineering and manufacturing teams to manage technical product data such as CAD files, drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and product revisions.
While Product information management (PIM), is mostly used by marketing, eCommerce, and sales teams to manage customer-facing product information such as product names, descriptions, attributes, images, pricing information, translations, and other content needed for websites, marketplaces, catalogs, and sales channels.
Simply put, PDM helps manage the data needed to design and build a product, while PIM manages the information needed to market and sell it.
